How do I install the Rome Total War series?
Q. I have: Rome Total War Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasion Rome Total War Alexander What is the best way to install them? Install the 1st, play it, install the second, play it, install the third...or is there a reason why I need to install all 3 ahead of time. Are they 3 seperate games or does the 2 expansions add extra elements into the original game as well? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated?
Asked by askquestions2000 - Sun Jul 20 20:06:08 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. They are all separate games. However, there are patches for each one that are available for free online. Just go to google and type in something like Rome Total War patch and it will show you a host of websites that have them. The patches just modify and add on to each one, but each one in itself is a different game.

What is the best mod for Rome: Total War and will it affect the game itself?
Q. WIll the mod, Lord of the Rings (for example), only allow me to play it in Lord of the Rings or will I be able to play it and the original Rome: Total War? Also, will the mod mess up the game so that there are bugs and lags?
Asked by WorldInConflict Ruler - Wed Oct 1 15:17:39 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Mods will have bugs and issues, but usually not much more than the original game itself. Once you install a mod you cannot play the original game alone unless you make a copy of the vanilla (original) file and put it somewhere else

How do I find the enemy army in a Total War battlefield?
Q. This is almost certainly a very silly question, but I can't seem to crack it. I'm new to Total War. Have Rome:Total War. When I start a pitched battle, I can almost never see my enemy when I'm deploying. This often leads to deployments facing in awful directions and hurried re-deployment in the midst of battle. Is there some simple way to know, say, where the enemy is or, at least, in what direction?

what is the best mod for medieval total war kingdoms?
Q. im looking for the best mod for medieval total war kingdoms. i believe the a few of the better ones are lands to conquer gold, stainless steel v6.1, and medieval total war grand campaign mod. which one of these is the best? or are there others that rival these?
Asked by joshua b - Mon Jun 29 08:56:10 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Stainless steel is probably the best I've played. I didn't really care for lands to conquer that much, although it wasn't horrible. Broken Crescent is also very good, it changes up the pace with all new middle eastern factions in a brand new campaign map. The newest major mod, third age looks great and I've heard glowing reviews but I haven't played that yet. My favorite mod overall was probably the latest Darthmod. It doesn't add a lot of settlements, there's no new factions, but it greatly enhances the gameplay. Some unit stats and costs were changed and make a lot more sense. It also runs better than any other mod I've used. Many mods like stainless steel cause CTDs, some lag and other glitches but I've had no problems with darthmod.… [cont.]

What is a total war and how does it affect the societies involved?
Q. I was asked this question for my social studies class and we're doing World War 2.

A. Total war affects civilians (non-combatants). This can be in many ways from rationing and working in war-related industries to direct impact from the war -- i.e. injury/death from bombings.

Is a NVIDIA nForce 630i video card enough to play Empire Total War?
Q. I have a video card that came with my HP computer and im not sure if it has the processing power to run Empires Total War at an acceptable level of graphics? If this is the case what are some other cards that i can purchase that will be capable of running the game at normal settings?
Asked by Eitan Campbell - Mon Jun 15 14:50:22 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. nvidia nForce 630i is not a video card. It's a motherboard. It lools like the actual video card, which is onboard, is the 7100...all the system requirments say is the card needs to have 256mb of video ram. Since the card is actually onboard the motherboard, it uses system ram for video ram. So the more system ram you have the better. If you have 1gb of ram total, I suggest upgrading to 2gb,

How do I make Medieval: Total War work?
Q. I bought Medieval: Total War about 2 or 3 years ago and i still can't play the campaign. The battles work, but everytime i want to play the campaign, after i select my faction and everything else and click play, at the load screen, it simply exits the game. First i thought it was the computer's fault (even though it met the game's requirements), but now i have a brand new computer which is much better and it still does the exact same thing. Then i thought it was the game's fault, maybe something wrong with the CD's, but my brother has this game too and it worked fine on his computer, and so i asked him if i can borrow his version of the game, and it still didn't work on my computer, so it can't be that either. I downloaded a patch for it… [cont.]

A. I had this same problem, I think it's because your computer is TOO good. Strange I know, I moved it from our good desktop to my laptop (which is not as good, I know.) And the game works fine except for a little lag here and there. I don't really know what the problem is, but this problem does seem fairly common.

Could the US gear up production for total war, as was done in World War II?
Q. Could we and would we gear up for total war like we did in World War II? Would we convert thousands of factories in order to support the war effort? Is that still possible to do, given that today's weapons are much more technologically advanced? What about the fact that so much manufacturing has moved to other countries? Would we still be able to gear up given that?
Asked by L Dawg - Thu Dec 10 23:38:17 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Could we? Yes. Will we have enough time to do it? No. In WW Two we were gearing up for the war years before we actually got into it. For example the four engine heavy bombers were designed and already under construction before Pearl Harbor. Even with that the B29 did not start rolling off the production line until after we entered the war. We had several good transportation systems including rail roads and a very good Merchant Marine. Today it only takes 30 minutes for a ICBM to reach the USA. Smallpox, anthrax or plague could be released at an airport and before we know there is an attack going on, it could be all over the USA. Poison gases (nerve agents) are very easy to make and one guy could wreck havoc in a city. If… [cont.]

How to make Empire Total War run?
Q. My Empire total war runs but is incredibly slow. What is the problem is it graphics or RAM?
Asked by matt14.pats - Sun Aug 30 19:51:25 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It does some pretty graphics so probably graphics. Try reducing the resolution. If your frames rate goes up you need a new graphics card. Or you could try lowering the detail settings. Try the smaller army sizes. Memory requirements are 1GB for XP and 2GB for Vista. If you have 2GB or more it's probably not your problem.
