Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. At present, the International community has been unable to formulate a universally agreed, legally binding, criminal law definition of terrorism. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or ideological goal, and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians). Some definitions also include acts of unlawful violence and war. The history of terrorist organizations suggests that they do not select terrorism for its political effectiveness. Individual terrorists tend to be motivated more by a desire for social solidarity with other members of their organization than by political platforms or strategic objectives, which are often murky and undefined. The word "terrorism" is politically and emotionally charged, and this greatly compounds the difficulty of providing a precise definition. Studies have found over 100 definitions of “terrorism”. The concept of terrorism may itself be controversial as it is often used by state authorities to delegitimize political or other opponents, and potentially legitimize the state's own use of armed force against opponents (such use of force may itself be described as "terror" by opponents of the state). Terrorism has been practiced by a broad array of political organizations for furthering their objectives. It has been practiced by both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic groups, religious groups, revolutionaries, and ruling governments. One form is the use of violence against noncombatants for the purpose of gaining publicity for a group, cause, or individual. From Wikipedia under the

Could we solve part of the current issues related to terrorism by reducing poverty? How do you explain poverty being related to terrorism when Osama Bin Laden comes from a wealthy family? Asked by Moody M - Mon Feb 23 11:56:51 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Poverty has a large part to do with terrorism. Although there are some exceptions, like Bin Laden, for the most part terrorism is the best financial option. Prospects of terrorism are often lured into acts of terror not primarily because of fundamental beliefs, but by finances. I actually read an article about a member of Al-Qaeda member who was promised $500 for a C-section for his wife, but soon left the organization after receiving nothing. Something you won't often hear about is how the US government obtained intelligence from terrorists captured in Afghanistan and Iraq. Cold hard cash. These guys had nothing better else to do than to fight, but when offered cash, they became turncoats in an instant. The acts of terrorism have became increasingly intense in recent years. This phenomenon is particularly serious in 21 century. But it didn't publicize in the past. What reason make it spring up?Some people said that it caused by the strong nations. Is that ture? The weapons of war have made it possible for the acts of terrorism to grow in intensity. But the other part of the equation is that the world has ceased to treat terrorists like terrorists. We now act like terrorists are people who can be reasoned with -- as though they want what everyone else wants, and sitting down at a bargaining table will help us find out a way to make everyone happy. In 1972, terrorists massacred members of the Israeli Olympic team. Those people were then treated like terrorists, and five of the eight died before they could get out of Munich. The rest were captured (though Germany later released them). Israel then staged air strikes against those they believed were responsible for… [cont.] Answered by CapnPen - Mon Dec 17 23:38:51 2007 Do you think the government response to terrorism has decreased procedural rights?
Q. Do you think the government response to terrorism has decreased procedural rights, and are those responses valid? Explain your reasoning. Everyone is labeled a terrorist anymore. If you defend yourself, if you go against the norm then you are a terrorits.
