From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A society or a human society is a group of people related to each other through persistent relations such as social status, roles and social networks. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Without an article, the term refers either to the entirety of humanity or a contextually specific subset of people. Used in the sense of an association, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Canis lupus social ethologyLike other groupings, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone; the social fact can be identified, understood or specified within a circumstance that certain resources, objectives, requirements or results, are needed and utilized in an individual manner and for individual ends, although they can't be achieved, gotten or fulfilled in an individual manner as well, but, on the contrary, they can be gotten only in a collective, collaborative manner; namely, team work becomes the valid functional means, to individual ends which an individual would need to have but isn't able to get. More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony or any cooperative aggregate such as for example in some formulations of artificial intelligence. GNU Free Documentation License Why does society allow females to get away with stuff? Q. It seems as though females are the rulers of this world, according to society. If they divorce a man, they automatically get half of his possessions (without question). If something happens to a woman, society automatically takes her word over man whether she's lying or not (without question). Males get so weak over females where it comes to the point that they'll allow the female to boss them around like they're some kind of dog or something and it's sickening. I understand that males have their issues too, but it seems as though they're the ones getting punished for most of the actions whether they did it or not. Why does society allow this? Asked by Mike - Sat Aug 21 03:40:48 2010 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. In the first place, women do NOT automatically get half of the husband's possessions; it varies from state to state; and depends on the particular circumstances. But, fair question otherwise. In response, I can only quote the great author James Jones from his masterpiece, "From Here to Eternity": "Women were dealt all the cards...between their legs" Answered by pilota300b4 - Sat Aug 21 03:46:36 2010 What does the humane society do with cats? Q. When you bring in pets to the humane society, do they keep them all or put them to sleep or what? Is there someone else to call about stray cats? Asked by Tony B - Wed Nov 5 23:53:19 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. every shelter is different with its own policies, be it a donation-run humane society, a govt-run animal control or any other animal shelter. unless they specify that they are a no-kill shelter, then many cats not adopted are euthanized. (thing is, even many no-kill shelters euthanize as well.) how much time they are given depends on the facility, how full they are & the demand for their cage space, the animals involved & how healthy they are (physically and mentally). most shelters keep cats anywhere from three days to several months. problem with cats is that a simple disease like an upper respiratory can mean certain death in a shelter...and these diseases are so easily transmitted, many cats don't get much of a chance for adoption… [cont.] Answered by sleepycatz1972 - Thu Nov 6 00:27:52 2008 What is it about the society in Singapore that makes people stressed and unhappy?
Q. What are your views on the society or cultural problems/issues in Singapore that makes Singaporeans stressful, unhappy and dissatisfied with life? Asked by ThUNDeRLuN - Wed Aug 20 11:24:28 2008 - - 6 Answers - 6 Comments A. I guess its all started with MONEY and the culture of trying to be better then others as the 2 root cause. Everyone is chasing for money in a way.. Almost 90% of singaporean is in some form of financial debt or loans to pay. Housing loan, car loan, bills, daily expenses, credit card bills, etc. constant striving for better job with higher pay, urging kids to better school to get a degree for better job, Also tight gov rule are not helping. too much control with little or not outlet for common folks to let off steam. Every measure from Gov have to do with money by playing our vanity..owning cars and upping erp. owning lift that goes to every floor..getting larger homes.. basically, there is no safety net available to common folks...no job… [cont.] Answered by Hertzi - Thu Aug 21 05:53:17 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Society" Quotes about society.
