Q. I am travelling to Addis Ababa soon. I will be bringing UK pounds with me for my trip. Where can i get it changed, also is it sfe to carry large amounts of money on me until i get to the hotel. Is there any other way i can bring my money into the country?

A. You can change the money at the airport or at a major hotel. There are also money changer shops in the downtown area. I think if you have common sense with your money, you should be okay. Use your hotel safe. There are pickpockets in the Mercado area so use street smarts in the more touristy areas. I've been in Addis several times and carried lots of cash. I also would only cash some at the airport because you will probably still be able to use the pounds on the street or for some purchases...I cash hard currency as I need it since you don't want to get stuck with too much and then have to reconvert.

A. *kinda lots of cars when compared to the country's economy. *new buildings are booming everywhere *has the largest open market in Africa known as Mercato *the airport is in the city-which we are not used to in other cities. *full of people that are willing to show you directions if you are lost.(seriously,they will stop whatever they are doing & help you you in whatever way necessary) * & i have to be honest, it kinda common to see the men(not all but most) pee facing any wall they find. A. It is a great place, not the ceanes plcae in the world but nice. There are good hotels - I'd suggest Hilton, Sheraton or Hotel De leopold. Great resturants - both traditional Ethiopian foods or if u can't handle the spice then there r chinese, indian, European. there are great Italian resturants also, for Pizzas- Deli Roma Pizzeria, for Lazagna - Zola, and for quality italian cuisine - go to Castelli (kinda expensive) and Oroscopo (great prices) there are also clubs for the night life There are historical museums if u r into those sort of things. Well this is all I can think of. Hope u enjoy ur stay Cheers!

A. Hi there. The biggest Arabic school that I can think of ehre in Addis is the "Awelia" in the Piazza area. The thing is I'm not sure if it's only Arabic or whether you have to take Koran and/or religion lessons.
