Is there any group that is using Yoga to increase awareness and activism on issues of peace & justice?
Q. We have started a group (Happy Living with Justice). We use Yoga as an outreach tool to increase awareness and activism on issues of peace and justice. Our goal is to live a lifestyle which is in harmony with the welfare of the entire world and its ecosystems as well as support the groups that are working for a just and sustainable world. Would you like to get involved?

A. United for Peace & Justice is an umbrella groups that also helps coordinate yoga and peace efforts. Take a look at the site. Maybe you can link up to increase the effectiveness of your group.

Career involving social activism?
Q. I'm a junior in High School and well I'm starting to think of what to study for college. And my initial thought was to study art or music. Another idea I have is to do some form of social activist work. I might join the Peace Corp after college. But I was wondering if there are any careers out there involving social activism.

A. "Social Activism" is self-righteous bogosity. If you REALLY want to help your fellow man, be an Engineer or Economist.

I seek a fair/unbiased review of the Israel/Arab conflict. Does it exist?
Q. Everything I've ever read includes bias for one side or another. Perhaps an unbiased historical view is impossible. I may have to settle for an ALMOST unbiased view. Even that is hard to find. Any help out there? Here is an example of my delemma in actual practice: With my fellow Veterans for Peace, and a contingency of Iraq Veterans Against the War, I started out at the head of the Line of March .up Market street yesterday, just after noon. As a Vietnam Vet and a strong advocate for peace since my anti war activism with Vietnam Vets Against the War since the early Seventies, I had every right to be there. But I dropped out of the march after only two blocks. I dropped out when our contingency of vets were asked (by the A.N.S.W.E.R.… [cont.]

Why do liberals want to take everyone's money? Do they deserve your money?
Q. I work hard for a living. I graduated high school, rather than smoke help. I went to college. Instead of going to "peace rallies" and engaging in idiotic political activism, I did my homework, and obtained a degree. I got a job and a career. The liberal wants to reach deep into my pockets, and take my hard earned money and "redistribute it" to lazy people that rather than studied growing up, smoked hemp, listened to ipods, socialized on myspace, and wound up flipping burgers. Rather than study in college, they decided to go to "peace rallies"...you know where they raise clenched fists, scream in anger, hold up hitler-esque signs, vandalize, litter, get arrested, etc. The liberal thinks you dont know how to to best spend your money.… [cont.]

A. I don't think I'm either at the moment. I'm a child of God. He promises to give us life eternal, so all of this mess will someday fade away. I was a Democrat for Hillary Clinton and then I thought Obama was okay until I heard Reverend Wright. It scared me that anyone could sit in his church for twenty years and not share his views. Then when Sarah Palin came on the scene my husband and I loved her at first sight. I voted Republican because of her. I share the same views as Fox New's Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Gretta Vansustern.

A. I think your views are mostly Conservative...not necessarily Republican or Democrat. I agree with most of what you have outlined and think that you have taken the time to educate yourself on the issues and have enough courage to stand for what you believe in. Whatever side of the spectrum you align with, you are the type of voter that the founders intended an American to be.

I am a born again christian, was a conservative democrat back around 1979-80, Jimmy Carter made me a Republican[his shoddy admin] I highly respect Zell Miller of Georgia[retired senator] he was the kind of democrat one was not ashamed of. I feel Ronald Reagan was the best President we have ever had, I have even ran in our local elections as a conservative Republican, but our party has filled up with moderates like McCain[a liberal] and also fell into corruption and immorality to the point we can no longer point a finger at the democrats. we were the party of family values until the last four years or so, I have as a result decided to brand myself also as an Independent, would not vote for a democrat liberal, had a difficult time voting… [cont.]

A few questions about organizing a benefit concert? (I realize the question's long but I really need help!)?
Q. I'm 15 and a sophomore in high school and for my English class I have to do an activism project. I was planning on participating in a rally for Invisible Children called The Rescue anyway, so I was going to just use that for the project, but doing that and getting more involved and informed about this war going on in Uganda has made me want to do more to help. Invisible Children is an organization working to free kids who have been abducted and forced to fight as child soldiers in the longest running war in Africa and to end the war altogether. One of the things you can do through them is sponsor a child (I think it's $300 per child per year). I was thinking of organizing a benefit concert for some time this summer to raise money to… [cont.]

A. This is an answer to your math question at (I have to post it here because I deleted my original response.) The data correspond to a quadratic equation, which has the form ax + bx + c = y You have three (x, y) pairs (1, -3), (2, 2), and (3, 6). Plug them into the quadratic and you get a system of three equations: . a+b+c =-3 . 4a+2b+c =2 . 9a+3b+c =6 You've learned several techniques for solving systems, but they're too long to write here. The solution is a =-0.5 b =6.5 c =-9 The equation becomes -0.5x + 6.5x - 9 = y When x = 8 the equation is -0.5(64) + 6.5(8) - 9 = 11

If Peace Demonstrations/Activism really worked, then why do we still have armed conflicts and wars?
Q. I have asked this question before under another catagory and I should really learn to ask questions to wider audiences instead of choosing the default catagory. I know I will probably get some pretty harsh responses from this question, and I am not trying to troll at all. I just want people's input on the question above. With every war or armed conflict, there are always these peace demonstrations against it. For example when there was heavy peace demonstations during the Vietnam War, and everyone involved wanted basically world peace right? So if those peace demonstrations "worked", then why did we have wars and armed conflicts afterwards?
