Are there and baseball academies for adult players?
Q. I am 34 and recently joined an adult team. i haven't played for a long time, but it's fun and my instincts are still somewhat in tact. I'd be interested in going to a baseball academy for a few days to get some coaching, and maybe even see if I can get back on the mound. Does anyone know of any such academies with programs/services for adult players?
Asked by Quagmire - Mon Apr 21 01:50:39 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Try a local indoor batting cage. Most of those places have former players or current college players working there that will give lessons or help out.

How does the CHP academy compare to Sheriff Academies?
Q. I'm interested in joining the CHP Academy, but I want to know how it compares (generally) to the Sheriff Academies. I've been watching "The Academy" reality show (LA County Sheriff's Department) and I'm wondering if this is what I would expect in the CHP Academy or if it's different...
Asked by a n d r o i d - Sun Mar 29 20:38:34 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Much different. The CHP Academy is a full time live in academy. You live there in a boot camp setting. The other academies let you go home at night, although you are still plenty busy with work to be done for the following day. Ick, avoid the chippies, unless you enjoy nasty accidents and enforcing vehicular code violations.

A. It's high, but it's not really considered one of the best colleges in the US. You should also look into The Citadel and Norwich University if you want to be in a Corps of Cadets.

Q. I'm not playing sports at middle school. I'm planning on playing in high school, because there isn't much variety here. Do I still have a chance of getting into Bergen County Academies, or any high school requiring admission if I do good in school & on the test? Also, will a B+ or A- in the 7th grade final grades hurt my chances?

Which one of the service academies does one have the best chance of becoming a pilot.?
Q. I have heard that it is hard to become a pilot in the air force, because only the top 10% make it. Any information on the academies would be great.
Asked by That Guy - Tue Jul 6 13:54:44 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. In the Air Force the difficulty of attaining a flight school slot varies with commissioning source. In most years any Cadet at the Air Force Academy who qualifies and wants a flight school slot gets one. Afrotc is far more competitve. This is because each year the Air Force assigns around 500 flight school slots to 1000 Lieutenants commissioning at the Academy and 500 flight school slots to 2200 Lieutenants commissioning through Afrotc. Flight School slots are also readily available to any Mid who qualifies at the Naval Academy. About 40% of Naval Academy Mids continue on to Flight School. The difference between the Air Force and the Navy and Marines is that flight school slots are also readily available to Ensigns and Lieutenants… [cont.]

A. None. Not only is there no scientific group which says the planet isn't warming, there isn't any group which says humans aren't causing the warming. Even the American Association of Petroleum Geologists no longer says humans aren't causing global warming.

What are the courses taught at the Naval Academies? Do they hire regular teachers?
Q. The educators that are at places like Annapolis, do they have to go through the academy themselves before they can teach and what courses do they offer besides chemistry and math? Also what age are the academy attendes usually?
Asked by karington07 - Tue Aug 28 20:53:25 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. So you're looking to get a job at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland... First things first: what are your qualifications? As with any university, there will be strict requirements with regard to the level of education necessary to be an educator there. Most universities have a minimum requirement of a Masters degree (with the proviso that you are also seeking a PhD) to just get in the door, so I'd say that if you've already achieved your Doctorate, then you are well on your way. The U.S. Naval Academy has a web site which lists employment opportunities ( so I would recommend checking there for any faculty positions currently available.

Is it true that people who graduated from military academies are given better treatment?
Q. I have heard from someone who graduated from the Air Force academy that because the government has spent so much money on you, they are reluctant to send you into the most hostile situations. Is this true?
Asked by Michael - Fri Feb 19 23:38:29 2010 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Someone is either pulling your leg, or delusional... or both. People are deployed based on the needs of the military and where they went to school has absolutely nothing what so ever to do with if they are deployed or not. Wouldn't you think that it would be just the opposite? Think of it this way. If the Government really did spend all that money training them, then in theory, they would be better officers because more money was spent on them, hence the more effective in combat they should be. Therefore, they should be deployed more often, for longer periods, and put into the toughest positions. The Government doesn't spend a lot of money training people just to keep them safe in the rear.

A. It isn't based on where you live, it is based on merit. You can get a congressional nomination from someone in California when you live in Maine. All that matters is that you are the best of the best.

I won't go into detail, but don't refrain from recommending something because you think I can't make it. Asked by Allison - Wed Jan 14 19:39:12 2009 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Well, it mostly depends on what instrument you play. There are a lot of excellent festivals that are for only one instrument. But some of the top in USA are the Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood, and Brevard Music Center. Aspen is definately the most prestigious. If you are interested in chamber music, Marlboro in Vermont is top notch. good luck!

Q. I don't know if schools have WiFi.. Can i use internet on an iPod Touch in Bergen County Academies with WiFi?
Asked by strawberrypink - Sat Jun 7 09:59:28 2008 - - 2 Answers - 2 Comments

A. Just try it out to see if it has Wi-fi. I did it at my school with my touch and it worked, but i don't know if your school would have it too. The best way to know if you have wifi is if your school uses laptops, or other wireless things. The bad news is, the school probably found out I was using the wi-fi, and locked the network. I couldn't use my ipod after that.

Q. My child is thinking of trying to enter either the Naval or Air Force Academy
Asked by KineGirl - Sat May 26 23:14:59 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Most Congressmen or Senators have a link on their webpage for the application for a nomination to a military academy. After abuses in the 50's and 60's, most congressmen have a set series of guidelines they use to determine who they recommend. If your Congressmen does not have a link on their webpage, then you can either ask the guidence councelor at your childs highschool or call the local office of the Congressmen. Make sure you fill out applications from both Senators and your represenative.
